You may remember Kim & Kyle from their wonderful canoe engagement session I did with them in September of last year. This is their beautiful winter wedding day in December, 2014.
Bright and early the guys & girls were getting ready in their hotel, not too far from the Distillery District for Kim & Kyle’s big day. Winter elements from nature were found all throughout their wedding day, from the pine cones on the beautiful cake and in all the florals, to the fresh cedar leaves in Kim’s cascading bouquet. Their lovely ceremony took place at Tappo in the Distillery District. Snowflakes and Christmas ornaments hung from the ceiling in their ceremony space, as all of their closest friends and family were there to watch them tie the knot.
After the lovely ceremony, we moved over to Archeo in the Distillery District for their wedding reception. White roses, baby’s breath, pine cones & cedar, accented all of the tables to carry on their winter wedding theme. Their wedding cake was incredible, and made by The Rolling Pin in Toronto. Covered in pine cones and small branches, it was simple, elegant and oh so delicious! Hot apple cider & mimosas were served during their mid day reception, & the food at Archeo was savory. The speeches from their nearest & dearest filled the room with watery eyes & tons of laughs. Plus, who doesn’t like a cake cutting with a little cake in the face!
After the wonderful reception at Archeo, we headed out into the busy streets of the Distillery District during the Toronto Christmas Market. Kim was wearing her grandmother’s vintage mink shawl, which kept her oh-so-warm while we trekked around. One thing that I absolutely loved, was that Kim wasn’t afraid of getting her dress dirty at all! They were both so easy going – it was a dream! Our first stop was the huge heart shaped sculpture titled “Under the Mistletoe”. Of course we had to get the shot of Kim & Kyle smooching under it! Taking photographs of the whole wedding party during the Toronto Christmas Market was no easy feat. A huge thank you to Dan for helping me out during this time!!
After the wedding party headed back to their hotels to rest up for the remaining wedding night activities, I took some time with Kim & Kyle to take some portraits of the two together. Kim really wanted some wedding day photos with birch trees in them, so she pointed out a couple she had seen earlier on in the day. We headed over to the snowy hill to capture just a few in nature, which I really loved doing. The Toronto Christmas Market is full of twinkling lights and a huge Christmas tree, so of course I was going to stay for some night shots of the couple! Another huge thank you to Kim’s parents Brian & Leah, for helping out with some of the night photos!
A beautiful day in December, couldn’t have been any more perfect for these two. Congrats Kim & Kyle, I’m so thankful I was able to be a part of your wedding day.
